2009 Northern Century Race

We had a great race in the 2nd running of the Northern Century - it is a 100nm distance race starting and ending in Anacortes.  The course takes the fleet from Cap Sante in Anacortes north to Point Roberts, then southwest around Stuart Island and out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Hein Bank, and then home to Anacortes.

The race starts at 7:30pm Friday evening and most boats take until Sunday morning to finish the event.  We managed to finish Saturday morning around 8:30am and in doing so set the elapsed time course record of 13:40:30.  The race however was a little closer with Icon finishing about 10 minutes ahead of the next boat (yes - 10 minutes after 100 miles of sailing).
