2009 Van Isle 360

This biennial, 580 nm. point to point race circumnavigated wild and rugged Vancouver Island, B.C. Sailed in ten legs the course provides inshore, offshore and overnight legs through some of the world's most challenging and beautiful waters.  This was without a doubt one of the very best races we have participated in - well organized, great stops around the island, challenging sailing, and outstanding scenery.

The inside legs were a little frustrating as the wind would build from behind and bring the fleet down to us.  However on the outside (which is more heavily weighted in the scoring system) we managed to pull off a string of bullets.  In the end we won 2nd in our division and 2nd overall in elapsed time - a result which we were very pleased to have earned!

Here are a few videos taken by Sean Trew (www.pacificfog.net) of the race - when we get our video processed we will also post it - enjoy!
